What a treat it was to take my Mom out for October Fest! Highly recommend the Georgetown Loop Railroad for this fall activity. Perfect for all ages and families. First, I bought our tickets, and the customer service was excellent. I was told where I could park, when to pick up tickets and about how long I should give myself to make the drive from Denver. Upon arriving, I was surprised to hear a live band playing folk music. The band was fantastic and complete in folk costumes. There was a free beer taste testing, so I tried five local Colorado beers and happy to see they had different root beers for the kids or for those who do not drink.
Afterward, I headed over to the BBQ station and was given a choice of a hot dog or a bratwurst. Brats and beer always go good together, so that’s my recommendation. The time came to board the train, so I headed over with Mom to the Devil’s Gate Station. Loading onto the train was easy and well organized. We were given some drinks and snacks for the ride and sat back and enjoyed the view. Historical information was passed over the intercom system, and it was fun to hear about the history of this railroad.
A gorgeous fall day, music, beer, brats and a cool train ride. It was an excellent choice. Mom had a knee replaced earlier this year, so she hasn’t been able to get out as much as she’d like. October Fest at the Georgetown Loop Railroad made her happy to get out, experience the mountain air, listen to some excellent music and simply enjoy a beautiful fall day in Colorado. Mom tends to be scared of heights, but she enjoyed the train ride even when we went over the bridge!
